Instructions for Authors

GENERAL STATEMENT:

«Sophia: Research on Fundamentals and correlation of Knowledge» (ISSN 2036-5047), founded in 2008,  is a biannual international academic journal which seeks to reflect upon the meaning and contribution of the various academic fields in light of existential and intellectual wisdom and interpersonal, interdisciplinarian and intercultural dialogue.

The research revolves around Philosophy, Trinitarian Ontology, Theology, Epistemology, Political Studies, Economics and Management, Human Sciences, Religions and Cultures, Communication Sciences, with an underlying commitment to reread the respective fields of study in a transdisciplinary epistemic perspective that qualifies it and offers expertise of exquisitely theoretical importance.

«Sophia» is committed to upholding ethical standards during every stage of the publication process. In order to do so, we abide by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)’s Best Practice Guidelines: https://publicationethics.org/.

SUBMIT A PROPOSAL:

The articles they may be sent to the Editor-in-Chief at any time. «Sophia» does not solicit contributions, nor can the Editor-in-Chief consider proposals for unfinished articles.

Languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese.

Length:  Articles are usually about 30.000 characters, notes and spaces included; discussions for the Forum Section are usually about 10.000 to 20.000 characters; book Reviews are generally around 10.000 characters.

Costs: «Sophia» does not charge submission or article processing fees for individual articles.

Peer Review policy: The proposal is evaluated by two reviewers through a double-blind peer review process. The Editor-in-Chief and the members of the Editorial Board cannot be reviewers. Peer reviewers are selected by the Editor-in-Chief with the advice of the Advisory Board. At least one of the two reviewers will be external to the Advisory Board of «Sophia». The double-blind peer review process usually takes eight weeks.

License: Unless otherwise arranged with the author, articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons License CC-BY-NC-ND 3.0.

Copyright: Acceptance of an article for publication implies formal transfer of copyright (including electronic rights) to Città Nuova Publishing for publication in the «Sophia» or any reprint thereof. Città Nuova Publishing will, normally grant permission to be reprinted the article after its appearance in the «Sophia».

Free copies: Author(s) are entitled to offprint copy of his article (PDF Publisher’s version) and one free copy of the issue. For the purchase of further copies by the author(s), Città Nuova Publishing will apply a discount.

Upon receipt of accepted articles at «Sophia», authors will be sign a copyright transfer declaration to Città Nuova Publishing.

In the case of multiple authors, the author who sends the text is required to declare that s/he has correctly indicated the names of all the other co-authors and to obtain their approval on the final version of the article and their consent to publication in «Sophia».

Proposal should include:

A copy of the text prepared for double-blind peer reviewing:

– Information which identifies the author(s) should be omitted from this file, in particular any first-person references to their own publications should be removed. Check if the file contains hidden personal information.

– The text should be sent in two formats: PDF and Word Processing File (*.doc/*.docx/*.rtf). The text and footnotes should be presented in double line-spacing. Each page should be numbered.

Final submission rules for accepted articles:

Important notice: articles that do not comply with these rules will not be sent to Città Nuova Publishing for the technical editing and typeset proof.

Articles should be consistent with the Journal Style Guidelines. You should treat your manuscript as a final proof, and eliminate errors, inconsistencies and and incomplete references as far as possible. This will save time at the proof stage.

Proofs are to be returned within one week, providing the following information: name, e-mail, city and institutional affiliation (if applicable); title in English (if the article is written in a different language); abstract in English (c. 400-800 characters, including spaces); list of 3-5 keywords for free subject indexing.

All texts must be organized in a unique Word Processing File (*.doc/*.docx/*.rtf), respecting this sequence:

a) Author(s) name;

b) Original title (and title in English if applicable);

c) Abstract in English;

d) Keywords;

e) Text including the intended illustrations and footnotes;

f) Bibliography (remember to indicate the initial and final pages when citing book chapters, journal articles or reviews, catalogue or dictionary entries).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS OF BOOK REVIEWS:

Book reviews are generally commissioned directly by the Editorial Board. If you are interested in writing a book review, please contact Marco Martino (marco.martino@sophiauniversity.org) or Alessandro Clemenzia (alessandro.clemenzia@gmail.com).

OPEN ACCESS POLICY:

For papers which have been formally accepted for publication in the «Sophia», Città Nuova Publishing permits self-archiving by author(s) of the version of the text which was accepted by «Sophia», before the start of the editorial and production work in preparation for its publication.

This version of the text may be placed on any or all of the following: author(s) personal website; author(s) institutional repository or archive; nonprofit subject-based pre-print servers or repositories.

The author(s) is authorized by Città Nuova Publishing to archive the PDF Publisher’s version, for the Academic or other evaluation procedures, reserving its consultation to Experts Appointed as Evaluators

Please note that Città Nuova Publishing is not able to extend this permission to cover the self-archiving of any part of the paper for which the copyright is owned by a third party, such as copyrighted illustrations.
